Making Sense of Mathematics in International Schools

Math Specialist & Consultant

Becoming a math consultant in international schools has been one of the most transformative experiences of my career. Every time I facilitate a new session, I continue to learn and grow, not just as a consultant but as an educator. This journey began with a desire to share my own story—how I shifted from being a math teacher who relied heavily on memorization and algorithms (the way I was taught) to becoming a math educator who believes deeply that math is thinking. It’s struggling, problem solving, creating, justifying, and making sense of ideas. Math isn’t just about getting the right answer—it’s about the process. And every time I work with educators around the world, I’m reminded of how powerful that shift in mindset can be.

Math Workshops

Besides offering my consulting services in different schools, I also offer a series of four 2-day workshops that will provide participants with the knowledge, tools, resources and strategies to provide a balanced approach to teaching, learning and assessing math in early childhood, elementary and middle school classrooms. Using current research-based approaches to learning math, participants explore the essential components of student-centered math lessons where students demonstrate proficiency in mathematics through essential math practices including problem solving, modeling, and communicating & reasoning.
